April 20 — OpenTable acquires Libro. 3,000+ Canadian restaurants that chose Libro specifically to avoid per-cover fees now face absorption into OpenTable’s ecosystem. Annual contracts, $1+/cover fees, loss of guest data ownership.

Of ~4,700 Montreal restaurants, only ~25-35% use any digital booking. 3,000–3,500 restaurants still run on phone, walk-ins, and Instagram DMs. Toast found 68% of their customers had never used any booking system.
